Learning ways to lift depression
This blog post was inspired by Robin Williams. He accessed and shared with us so many parts of himself, what a brilliant amazing man. Obviously what we could not all see is the part within himself he truly struggled with. I believe in healing and I believe healing depression is possible. I remember feeling what would definitely be called depression many many years ago, but I was not open to admitting it, I was moody and irritable and kept to myself. When I began to practice yoga, develop and commit to spiritual daily practices along with my ongoing writing as my soft landing, any darkness within me, began to dissolve. I found working with affirmations and positive words that resonated with me extremely effective. The most powerful practice for me became writing little post it notes with charged up positive words. What happens when we read these phrases over again day in and day out is they begin to become the more dominant thoughts in your mind, so it’s important to have them posted around your house for a while, until they are ‘baked in’. All practices spiritual or otherwise are cumulative and will become healthy habits only when you commit to them.
Only one thing can take up one space at a time. If we are feeling down and negative, that is our dominant vibration. Our vibration is created by the quality of thoughts we think and our emotions feed off our thoughts. When we begin to bring in to our daily lives any kind of positive work, meditation, writing , affirmations, yoga, walking, running, basically anything that makes us feel good, these all begin to shift our inner emotional world and positiveness becomes our more dominant experience. Additionally, when we do different things, our mental, emotional and physical energy shifts, in other words depression gradually begins to lift. Negative thoughts will still come in to your mind but there will be so little room for them now because positive ones are taking up so much space, that they won’t stick around for long. Spiritual practices/work, whatever you want to call it, simply choosing to be kind to strangers and smiling often, bringing your positive vibe wherever you go, is for your own and others benefit and could positively affect someones life. Please continue to shine your own light and express your kindness to others. I am a Bio Energy practitioner and I believe that when energy stuck in the body for prolonged periods of time is removed (as we do in Bio Energy healing), our natural life force energy flows freely again and our mental, emotional and physical life thrives.
